Hobnobbers
Hobnobbers is a fast-paced 3D platformer where you and your crew of mischievous gnomish critters storm through multidimensional outlets and fight Pixys who seek to harvest you for yummy snacks. Raid the shops and stuff Shinys in your hat before the portal closes, or risk being stranded in a whimsical capitalist hellscape. Deliver your loot to Lady Goddess, an enigmatic figure trying to get revenge on her ex-husband. Trade the items you recover for cosmetic upgrades- aka drip- or, if you fail, get turned into stew!
UI and Concepting
I worked on a lot of pre-production and concept art for Hobnobbers, including environments, gameplay, characters, and UI! I've recently been fascinated by hand-painted 3D looks, and I wanted to play around with a more painterly, stylized look for Hobnobbers. I also experimented with using public-domain images in a collage style for some of the UI, cutting and placing photos together to give it a scrapbook look.
I was also experimenting with a pipeline to gather player feedback on potential characters quickly. If you're curious, check it out in detail here!

Learning 3D Development
I got to plunge into the world of 3D texturing... and 3D in general! I hand-painted characters, environments, and props with a painterly halftone style. Before I left Snoozy, we were experimenting with different ways to simplify our art pipeline for scope. I put together the 3D scene below to play around with Hobnobbers' overall style and help lead the art direction. I learned a lot about Unreal Engine as well, including making my own VFX and shaders, building environments, etc!
